I've found a lot of people get defensive and offended when you use the words "rape", "violence", or "murder" when trying to explain the use of non-human animals, because these are words that supposedly are unsensitive to how these events can happen to humans. This is an article that explains exactly how milk is obtained and how this is a relationship where the human rapes a female cow. I think it explains exactly why we need to use the word rape, but maybe I'm looking into it too much. I found the link that article had concerning the health benefits (or lack thereof) of dairy products interesting too. Lots of pretty legitimate looking citations as well. If anyone needs to convince wary moms and dads I'd bookmark this.
