Hi!
My name is Annie and I'm a first year theatre student at York. I stopped eating meat when was no longer comfortable with the commercial meat slaughter system. More recently, I am cutting out dairy for health and ethical reasons, and I eat eggs rarely. The end goal is veganism. Probably.
I'm hoping to meet other York students who are interested in sustainable diets, organic and whole foods, local food initiatives, and ethical food practices. Since I am new to Toronto as well as veganism, I am always interested tips, recipes, and nutrition info!
Can't wait t'meetcha!
Annie

My name is Jessia (Jeh-sye-yuh), I am a first year philosophy student and very stoked on actually finding people with a similar mindset. I have been a working progressively towards veganism since May but I was vegetarian for a year beforehand. My main motivation for choosing veganism is that I do not feel entitled to take the life of conscious things based on taste and convenience. I like music.I also like mind bending movies, things made out of canvas, reading about history/art/philosophy/the world/ascetics and doodling on everything I own. I really want to see the world and then tell everyone what I see. It would be rad to be paid to do it too. For the time being I hope I can do some charitable work and meet great people... who may or may not end up traipsing through some overgrown temple in Laos with me when I decide to act on my adolescent desire to travel.

Hello, I am back. My online name is Newton, you will get to know my real name once you meet me in real life. After my mother deiced to cut all finical help, I am now on my own food wise, thus allowing me to become a flextarian, though trying to avoid meat at all costs. My mother denying me food is not the reason why I went flextarian, it was her opening a door to become one, which I have been wanting to be for a very long time. I can now happily take control of what I eat.
I became one due to environmental reasons and personal taste. I simply just don't like meat, hate cooking with meat and frankly what's the point of spending lots of money on meat, which I actually don't have the budget for, to only hate it?
Now, you may be asking "why don't you become full veggie than?" 1. I am someone who needs to take baby steps. 2. I am already on a gluten free diet, to be so demanding of my boyfriends mother to cut meat and wheat in her cooking is imo asking too much.
Pretty much the only meat I will be eating is at my boyfriends and even than I plan on trying to avoid it at all costs.
Anyway, nice to meat <--- Oh dear, that was not on purpose, MEET you all again.
