So I love Scott Pilgrim because it shows a really neat depiction of Toronto lifestyles - but I love it even more because it's the first movie I ever saw that portrayed vegans in a positive light.
If you haven't seen it you should, but here's a quick synopsis. To date Ramona Scott needs to battle and defeat her seven deadly exes. Each ex has super powers (it's filmed as if he's in a video game). One of the super powers of one of her exes is that he's vegan!
The vegan ex has psychic mind powers and is only defeated because he's tricked into drinking cow milk. The vegan police come and take his super powers away. It turns out he's been skimping on his veganism for some time.
I think this depiction is great because it glorifies vegans a little bit, but when Scott inevitably has to beat the ex vegans aren't made fun of or belittled. Instead we learn that the ex was never really vegan all along, and that to be vegan requires commitment and sticking to your diet perfectly.
I couldn't find a youtube clip of the whole scene - if anyone else does post it! =) and your comments on the scene or the movie.

Interesting that you saw it in a positive way. I thought it sort of mocked vegans and made an assumption that everyone really craves meat in the end. We are all humans, maybe he just needs to work on his commitment skills more than labeling him as a non vegan.
