Molasses is a byproduct of the sugar industry and is surprisingly healthy. Just one tablespoon has:
20% of your daily potassium 15% of your daily iron 10% of your daily calcium 10% of your daily B6 8% of your daily magnesium
Molasses is usually overlooked or forgotten, but if you can handle the taste I think it's a pretty essential part of a vegan diet. I have one tablespoon ever day. If you have it shortly before or after eating something high in vitamin C (like orange juice!) you absorb even more iron.
The numbers might be a bit lower depending on the molasses you buy, or what you as a person need, but it's still pretty surprising even if they change a little.
I take blackstrap molasses which tastes the strongest, but baking molasses and other types which don't taste as strong usually have the same nutritional content. =)

That's very intriguing. I would never would have thought molasses would have any nutritional value! I'm going to wiki this up and read more about it.
